can this be done in responce to tendrils being played?

If it works, yea you loose half you life...
but he just empied his hand and is going to be top decking for the rest of the game, while you are only down 1 card. Massive card advantage!

On a totally unrelated note:

No, because:
A: Tendrils makes you lose life, it doesn't deal damage.
B: Tendrils makes a helluva lot of copies, and each copy is a different source.
