the store should've picked the old extended banned-list (Necro, Demonic Consultation)... but well...

I really think it's a dumb thing to ban cards like Darksteel Reactor, Door to Nothingness, Overgrown Estate, Test of Endurance and Goblin Game... Because they are included in the worst cards ever...

So, uhmmm, Ice Age is legal. Overgrown Estate is Store Banned. Zuran Orb is LEGAL????

ya. they absolutly hate long games. my friend got overgrown estate banned because he dragged out a game once. i guess they're just afraid of the unstopable 20-turn win with darksteel reactor, or the RRGGBBUUWW win with door to nothingness...

but it is what it is. duals, force, and extended

Funny. I love long games and think short ones are a waste of time.

Squeeman, do you happen to be a combo player?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Blessing of the (Nightmare) on Wednesday, February 02, 2005 - 09:37 am:

Long games aren't combo, short games are.

Well, a Merfolk of the Pearl Trident and a Lord of Atlantis are technically a combo. And if you have those two in play, the game can still take forever.

But to answer your question, I'll play combos just to test them out. There's a moment of gloating after a "BAM BAM BAM, I win!" game, but I know from experience that if someone has built a killer deck, playing that deck and repeatedly losing to it by a wide margin is a pain in the ass. Then again, that friend was always a cheater. Anyway, once I've seen that a combo works well, I'll lay it aside. And I don't actively hunt new ones out. My friends and I have played long, drawn out multiplayer games that have lasted hours. Most people don't dig that.

I would argue that LoA + Merfolk is synergy, not a combo. When people hear combo they think of Worldgorger or Illusionary Mask.

Semantics.

When I was only playing for less than a year, a duel would take all afternoon! And then it still came down to a draw thanks to my Inferno. My friends hated that.

But I agree with Squeeman. Dwarven Pony + Dwarven Trader is one hell of a combo!

Lol...

INFERNO!! I used it in my first deck What a bomb!

Imagine each of us only had 90 cards (1 starter and 2 boosters 4th), and played with all of them, except for the cards we didn't understand, like Energy Tap.

After a while, my cousin got some "King" cards (Fallen Empires, as I later found out) and we were all like "Wow! They have a black border and a crown! They must be waaay better than our cards!" Plus, he got a Deep Spawn...

So we killed him as soon as he got 3 Islands out.

Yep. That's pretty much how it went. Except for me it was forests and Lhurgoyf, or plains and Wrath of God. In fact, in a game I'll always remember, I was played Wrath of God, destroying my opponent's fifty-some Thallid-generated saproling tokens (we didn't know that tokens were removed from the game when destroyed), then played a Lhurgoyf. The jerk reversed the damage, stole my Lhurgoyf, and bludgeoned me to death with it.

This wasn't one of the first games, obviously, since Homelands had just come out recently.

Lol, to me as a newb I would pay to keepv Wrath of God out of my deck. It kills all my creatures!

Sorry for the necromancy, but some new people probably havent seen the first post, and I posted a deck that makes referance to it, and Ancient Tomb is unbanned.
