Right. This is where it gets weirder.
Most gold creatures are in fact creatures, vampires.
Card Mechanics = Climbing and place.
Climbing = Climbing creature can only be blocked by climbers or flyers.
Place = you can only control one place at a time. All other players may play place cards, but only one they are allowed to control.

These suck, but warning now, ULTRA silly and stupid card coming up under place. All places are the mysterious Purple color (yes, purple!)

Don't add another color that would kill magic as we know it.

It's only there for places Xion. There will be no creatures, no anything but places with the Purple colour because it doesn't fit in the artifact theme and it doesn't work with the other colours.
Besides, is that ALL you can say...

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Squeeman on Monday, October 27, 2003 - 03:44 pm:

You know they can just be lands... right?

Just pretend that its old enough not to have to follow the stupid 'lands must produce some kind of mana' rule (or however that went, exactly). True the non-basic lands in Legends were pretty dismally bad, but they were still lands.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By The Pentavus (Karonasservant) on Monday, October 27, 2003 - 03:47 pm:

I wanted them to be able to play after lands. So you don't have to wait a turn to play them. But i'll take your advise for these "place" cards.
I like the mechanic behind them i must admit.

Chronoplast is BROKEN for 0.

Nosgothic Flames= Fires of Yavimaya on steroids.

Timestreaming device is like my Staff of Xixill, only with too little of a drawback to be playable.

Desperation act: a little weak, make it 5 life or less.

Most of the others are playable...a little on the weaker side, but playable all the same.

I told you, there was a stupid card coming up, and note you gotta pay P though.
Thats why i wanted Purple.
Yes, i wanted to reprint Fires of Yavimaya, but theres no Yavimaya in the lands of Nosgoth.
Desperation act was just something i made whilst laughing. I decided a stupid card had to be in gold.

Hmm... but that totally wastes the point. I don't want them targetd by any type ofdestruction... until the next cycle which uses Purple more...
I'll think carefully into places. VERY carefully.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Squeeman on Monday, October 27, 2003 - 04:50 pm:

But to make them indestructible makes them unfair. Theoretically, there has to be SOME way to get rid of them, otherwise they are cheap and invincible.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Squeeman on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 - 04:17 pm:

Okaaaaaaaay...

On the most basic level:

There are several players. All but one of the players creates an imaginary character, based on a series of vague templates. The easiest way to define a character is based on race (i.e. species- such as humans, elves, dwarves, etc), and class (i.e. job- such as fighters, wizards, clerics, bards, etc). So an example of a character would be an elven fighter. But the possibilities are many.

The last of the players is called the "Dungeon Master" (DM). This person tells a story, creates a setting, and unravels scenarios. So basically, the DM creates scenarios, and the characters say how they want their characters to react.

Example:

DM: You are walking through the forest, when you come across a clearing. In the center of the clearing stands a white marble temple. What do you do?

Elf Fighter: Hmm. I don't trust it. I think we should continue, and pass it by.

Gnome bard: I say we explore it. you never know what there may be...

DM: While you are deciding what to do, a troop of zombies shambles out of the temple, and comes towards you.

Elf Fighter: Okay, I attack one of the zombies with my bow.

Dwarf Barbarian: I charge the first one with my axe.

Human Wizard: I'm going to hang back, and cast spells at them.

And so on. There are a bunch of dice rolls and stuff, just so that you don't hit automatically, and so that the DM can't hold really big grudges or anything... but those are really secondary, and the DM can take care of it.

There is MUCH more, and there are several rules (for example, a fighter cannot just cast spells on the fly, etc), but you don't need more than vague knowledge of them.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By The Pentavus (Karonasservant) on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 - 04:21 pm:

Ok.. easy enough said...
So... it's really just a roleplay? and you use Dice to decide damage and if you hit. DMs can just shove random monsters at you, and you'll be obliged toeither fight and/or run...
...
...
...
maybe i should just watch the D and D posts going on so far? (god, my spelling today is AWFUL ><)

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Squeeman on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 - 05:08 pm:

Yeah, its really just the MoaRPG.

As for combat, there are lots of choices you can make, but fleeing and running are probably the most common ones.

Another thing about D&D is that you have various stats on certain aspects of your character that determine this and that.

The main ones are:

Strength: (how strong you are)
Dexterity: (how graceful, coordinated and alert you are)
Constitution: (how much physical endurance you have)
Intelligence: (logic, general capacity to reason, knowledge)
Wisdom: (enlightenment, common sense)
Charisma: (likability, leadership skills, strength of character)

To hit: The higher this score is, the more likely your character is to hit a creature in combat

Armor Class: The higher your AC is, the harder it is to hit you in combat

Saving Throws (divided into reflex, will, and fortitude save): Your chance of avoiding magical or other non-combat dangers.

If you've ever played Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, or Neverwinter Nights- those are just computer game versions of D&D.

Yes... do watch the D&D game thats been going on. It may be helpful.

and i must say.. the stats look weird to me... i seen them from somewhere before, the Chaoticly Good and Chaoticly Evil things.
