I wake up early to the sounds of the city. When I finally decide that the kitchen will be open, I go downstairs and order my meal. With a bowl of oatmeal, I await the others for the day ahead, the gathering of supplies from Toramyr, and possibly the planning of our trip to Ragnoth.

grompsh walks downstairs, going to get his morning meal. He gets a jug of ale, and walks over to mannellos table.
"sleep well mannello?"

Grompsh, the orc half-breed, is down first. Receiving a pitcher of ale from the barman - [first thing in the morning? He drinks like a dwarf!] - he comes over to chat.
"Well enough," I reply. "But I tire of waiting around aimlessly. Today we obtain our supplies from Toramyr, and tomorrow we report to the embassy and receive our orders. If the..." I break off, wondering if it is wise to so openly mention our mission in public, "people we are dealing with want to set things in motion, then perhaps it isn't wise to wait around for so long. Who knows when the next round will begin?"
Inwardly wondering if the orc understood my very thinly disguised reference to the Ragnoth cultists, I sip at my tea and take another spoonful of porridge.
"The others should be up soon," I tell Grompsh. "Incidentally, I think we can trust this Gwendolyn woman. Toramyr knew nothing of our arrival or our identities, so she is likely not telling him anything about us."

"alatar, he seems like a theif, but some theieves can be trusted.
I also tire of waiting. I wish to be moving on. Have you ever seen the forests of the north?"
Grompsh takes a huge gulp from his ale and offers some to Mannello.

"No, I haven't," I reply, waving the ale aside. "I traveled much when I was younger, but only along the wider trade routes. As for Alatar... it's as they say. 'Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.' We'll decide in time. But I'm inclined to believe his story. Or that he's an excellent actor. I consider myself a good judge of people, and he doesn't seem dishonest."

That night passed quickly and before long, the accursed light of day broke through the skies. After completing my morning prayers to my glorious master, I walk downstairs and order some meat, before going upstairs to finish my meal.
Then, I go downstairs. I can no longer reveal myself like what happened at the embassy. It was too obvious and I suspect that some of them are already starting to believe that Vessel is unstable. If those fools want nothing to interfere with their own selfish plans, I shall let it be so... for the time being.
OOC: Yay! He's normal!

After a little while, Shadakra walked in through the front doors of the inn. She had gotten up with the sun, and had spent a few hours out and about in the surrounding area. Spotting M'enteth, Grompsh, and Draccouth at one of the breakfast tables, she ordered a meal, and asked if she could sit with them.
"I wonder what Dalheim is like in winter," she said suddenly, almost to herself. Then, to the others, she added, "I have asked around, and learnt a little about these lands to the west. Dalheim is one of the cities that lie on the Telaril sea, a vast inland body of water. There are roads to the nearest cities, but I think we will have to cross the wilderness if we want to get to Ragnoth."
She sounded as if she the thought of crossing wilderness appealed more to her than using a road.

Xion was up through most of the night, watching the moon, as he worked w/ the poison.
[How far have we fallen? We should have had more than enough power to dispose of Grompsh...miserable, base, ignorant, deluded, mindless, subhuman animal. We have to be more cautious...]
He rested near dawn, then headed down to the others.
[...Perhaps reducing internal tensions...]
Xion goes over to Grompsh.
"You, come with me, I wish to speak alone."

"Make it quick," I tell them both, sipping my tea. "We do have work to do today. We don't yet know how much or what Toramyr is willing to supply us with."

"Make it quick," I tell them both, sipping my tea. "We do have work to do today. We don't yet know how much or what Toramyr is willing to supply us with."

Alatar wakes up un the early morning. Yawning, he got dressed and went downstairs to get some breakfast. He come upon Manello and said, "Greetings, how goes your day?

"It hasn't been long enough to be anything yet," I answer bluntly. Then, changing the subject, "You want to join us as an adventurer, right? Well, we won't be setting out for at least a day or two longer, but today we'll be picking up supplies from the mercenary guildhouse in town. If you want to make yourself useful, you can help us out."

Gwen comes down the stairs quietly to stand against the wall behind the table.

"Oh, excellent! I shall be delighted to help ye out." Alatar smiles. "Don't mind me asking, but why are we leaving in a couple of days?"

"We have some business to attend to at the Aredan Embassy tomorrow. Once we get that out of the way, we probably won't stay in town much longer."

"Alright, when are we leaving when your group has all awake?" Alatar questioned.

"the hell do you want Xion?"
Grompsh walks over to xion, his ax ready.
grompsh is alert, expecting to be attacked. He doesn't trust xion.

Gwen, expecting trouble, puts her hand on the handle of her sword, ready (I ready an action) to draw it at the first sign of trouble.

I pause as the large half-orc, booms out in response to Xion's summon.
When he stalks off to speak with the necromancer, I answer Alatar's question, "Probably. As soon as everyone has eaten, we should be off."

ryu wakes up feeling mighty refreshed. as he walks down the stairs, he sees the half orc walking to xion with his axe ready. ryu does the 'shifty eyes' and thinks "w00t, kool, this should be fun to watch!" ryu runs down the remaining steps and sits next to manello. ^___^

"OK,, that will be nice," Alatar says.

"If you two are going to fight," I call out evenly - almost indifferently - to Xion and Grompsh, "do it later. We have work to do, and I don't intend to spend the day cleaning up a destroyed dining room or paying for damages."
Having finished the last spoonful of my porridge, I stand up and stretch my legs.
"I'm ready to go," I announce to the group. "When you finish your meals, I suggest we get going."

Arunyia snapped out of his meditation, finding himself sitting crosslegged in the center of a pentagram drawn in blood on the floor. Used to waking up under even stranger circumstances, he took no notice and casually left his room.
Arunyia saw the group as he descended the stairs: M'enteth, Shadakra, Ryu, Draccouth, and Alatar sitting at a table; Gwendolyn standing against the wall; and Grompsh and Xion apparently at it again.
Arunyia approached the barkeep's counter, and ordered a plate of raw, bloody meat and a pitcher of blood, as well as a hand towel. Taking his breakfast with him, Arunyia approached the group's table. M'enteth had just gotten up, commenting on the party's need for haste.
"Good morning to you all," Arunyia said, politely bowing in greeting. "I trust you all slept well... ?" Setting his plate and his pitcher of blood onto the empty table he was standing next to, he speared a piece of meat with his sharp nails and sank his pointed teeth into it. Blood trickled down his chin a bit, and he wiped at it with the hand towel.

I look at Arunyia and smile.

Shadakra looked up from her finished meal, and shrugged. "I am ready to leave, as well. Is Xion?"
She stood, relieved to be out of the chair, and asked, "What have you been doing these last days, Gwen? Our meeting at Toramyr's was less than brief."

"I've been around," she says with a small smile and a brief shrug. "Just doing what I normally do, I guess."

"To speak...to...ease internal tensions...I am unarmed, you need not be concerned..."
Xion wears a suspicious grin, and he extends his bony hand.
Xion stares at Grompsh's axe.
"I apologise for our...misunderstanding,...you see, not many of your order have been rational with me, I assumed your intentions were to destroy me..."
"I couldn't take any chances, not when I was so close..."
"Please, forgive me..."

"FORGIVE YOU! AFTER ALL YOUVE DONE! AFTER YOU INSULTED MY BELIEFS AND TRIED TO KILL ME! NO, XION, THERE ARE SOME MARKS THAT DON'T COME OFF. I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU, AND I WILL KILL YOU SOME DAY."

"Uhr, here they go again," Shadakra muttered, having given up talking to Gwen. "Look, Xion, you know this will not work, and we have business to attend to..."
She stopped, knowing that her words most likely fell on deaf ears.
"Well, either you come, or stay and kill each other, I have no preference. I know the way to Toramyr's, and can go there on my own, if need be."
She hefted her pack on, and headed outside.

"Well, told me of his earlier confrontation... I din't think it was that bad thinks. Hmmm.....maybe I could raise my standing...," Alatar thinks to himself.

Shadakra got up and left the building. Arunyia set his plate down, and still carrying his goblet of blood, took up his pack over his left shoulder.
"I would like to visit this Toramyr today..." Arunyia said, as he followed Shadakra out the door.

"bah, im not hungry" and with that, ryu follows arunyia out the door"

Xion didn't mock Grompsh's culture back in Aredan, he found the dramatic display amusing.
Xion sneers.
[You were lucky then, once my senses can percieve your plane's nether, you are going to rue the day you crossed me...]
"NOTHING, not even death can prevent me restoring my love. I have bargained with death's master..."
"You think you can destroy me, you cannot destroy one who is already dead."
Xion leaves Grompsh and goes over to Shadakra.

I pick up Vessel's things and follow Xion. Unless I act soon, I believe that he will make an attempt on Vessel's life. I would ensure that would not happen. Tapping him on the shoulder, I gesture that we ought to keep back. I speak with an arrogant and uppish tone.
"I know that you want something from me Xion. Perhaps it is knowledge, perhaps it is my essense, but nevertheless, I know you intend to seize it and present it to your weakling master."
"I am a force from beyond the reaches of time, a force with powers over both the light and shadows. Though I have weakened over the past ten thousand years, I still cling on to most of my former powers."
"Though we serve different masters, our goals are common and it is only ftting that we work together to reach that common purpose. I have come to offer you a deal, a pact, if you would like to call it. I need you to help bring out Arunyia's inner demon. In exchange, I would provide you with ancient knowledge and spellcraft that even your master could not entirely comprehend. It depends if you feel that you are up to the task."
I extend Vessel's hand.

Grompsh walks away, toward shadakra.
"f*****g necromancers"

ooc i just read the commentary thread and i do think ryu woukld be the perfect person to invite gwen along, so if you dont mind, id like to get rid of my last post, and replace it with the following (i dont think there is a way to delete your own posts, maybe eid could just get rid of it or somthing?)
ryu sees shadakra and arunyia leave. before he follows, he goes up to gwen and asks "would you like to come with us to Toramyr's? it'd be fun to have you around, since you seem like a friendly person! some people are just plain mean" ryu then remembers grompsh slaming him against a wall almost causeing him to pee his pants. ryu shutters x_x "so how about it?" ^__^

You demons disgust me, your goals are of no concern to Yawgmoth. There's no reason we should trust you, murderous madman. You are as weakened as we are, and you know that, do not underestimate my perception.
[... So, Azareal knows our master's plans...]

The group breaks up and heads out after Shadakra fairly quickly after Shadakra's provocation and the end of Grompsh and Xion's exchange. I feel a tiny twinge of satisfaction as her cue sets nearly everyone on her tail. I follow out, trailing a few steps behind everyone else, except for Ryu, who decided to stay with Gwendolyn at the inn. Undoubtedly to flirt with her. On the way, Draccouth and Xion begin speaking, and I idly eavesdrop on their conversation, having nothing better to do.
Our of Character: Listen check? Maybe with a penalty. Manello isn't really interested, he's just nearby and picking up on it. Auto bluff check if they turn around, because he'll pretend he wasn't paying attention.
Note: I suppose this is where you could include Ryu and Gwen catching up with the group after their little talk.
Finally, we reach the mercenary camp.
"We have business with Mr. Toramyr," I inform the guard, after asking that we be admitted.

Alatar follows Manello.
OOC: Alatar is following Manello after he listens in on Draccouth and Xion. JUst to say he isn't eavesdropping on the eavesdropper

"I'll go with you," Gwen says after a little thought. She and Ryu walk side by side to the guild, chatting amiably.
"We have business with Mr. Toramyr," she hears Manello say.
The guard beckons for him to follow, along with the others that had seen him the last time. He tells the others to stay out while they talked to Toramyr.
Sorry, I haven't really had much time to post any real long posts from Gwen's perspectinve, I'll try to do one soon.

Out of Character: So only Shadakra and Manello are admitted?

Yes.

"Wait here. We'll be right back," I assure the members of the group who have to wait outside, and follow the guard.
"Good morning," I tell Toramyr when we arrive. "We've come to pick up the supplies you offered, if you're still willing to help us."

"It is true that some of my kindred have degenerated throughout the ages and with my return, I seek to weed out the weak and feeble and restore the pride and dignity our race. Though you claim that you want nothing to do with us, it is fear and jealousy that drives your hatred. You are afraid of our knowledge and jealous of our powers."
I then change my voice to a gentler tone.
"But you have no reason to fear me Xion. I am a demon true to my words and I will keep my promises. Just I promised Vessel his redemption, I will promise you power and knowledge beyond mortal comprehension. Perhaps if you took time to reconsider..."

"We have brought the others with us, and Gwendolyn is with them, outside," Shadakra added, still not completely convinced that this was not a trap.

"Yawgmoth has promised me that and more, I have researched you demons, and disgust not fear drives my hatred, disgust at your disregard for life. Such can be excusable under some circumstances, but many demons murder for nothing more than personal pleasure."
"You murder women for such pleasure, you are as bad or worse than the one who robbed me of my love."

Uncooperative bastard...
"Very well. It seems that you humans haven't changed one bit since my reign during the Kindred wars. You are just as arrogant, pathetic and greedy as your predecessors. I had tried to help us in the best of our interests, but apparently you are too pigheaded to accept. Very well. It seems that I shall have to do this myself. Once again, entire worlds would be annhilated before my wrath and hordes of my servants will walk this world. This time, I will not be as generous as I had been before. This time, you humans will be utterly annhilated as I restore the pride of my people."
I walk away to the front of the group.

"Here you go," says Toramyr, tossing you a sack of coins. "This should be enough to fund your entire party."
There's 9,000 gold total.

Out of Character: 9,000 gold? Holy crap! Wow.
"Thank you," I reply somewhat mechanically. "I suppose if you want reimbursement, you could take it up with the Aredan Embassy here. We understand the risk you may be taking by being complicit in our investigation."
After a quick thought, I add, "Incidentally, do you know of any good tailors in town?"

Split up among the party, it's not as much as it seems....plus you guys are horribly underfunded so far.
Toramyr gives you the directions to a good tailor.

"Thank you, Mr. Toramyr. We will take up no more of your time, unless Shadakra has something to say."

[He has no where near as much power as he claims, and he'll never live long enough to. He sees me as human, I have become so much more...]
(Xion curses under his breath)

Shadakra stared at the large sack of money, blinking. Even split among the party, that would be enough for each of them to update their current equipment standard. "I have nothing to add but my thanks," she mumbled, picking up the sack and hanging it over her shoulder.

"Well, we'd best be going, Shadakra. The others are waiting outside," I remind both her and the mercenary lord.
With a nod at Toramyr, I turn to the door, and show myself out.

Shadakra followed behind, and when they reached the others, she gestured to the sack over her shoulder. "Funding," she said simply. "Who wants some?"
She put the heavy sack down and opened it. Gold. Thousands of gold pieces. She noticed her brows creeping upward on her forehead, and quickly drew them back down. She had never seen this much money before.
The elven ranger separated a decent pile from the sack (1000 gold) for herself. "There's plenty for everyone. I will be heading to the Dalheim smithies to see if I can get some better equipment," she explained, wondering what the others would do with their share of the money.

I wait until everybody recieved their gold pieces and them I walk up and pick up Vessel's share. I weigh it and then decide that it would go towards improving Vessel's pitiful equipment. I then head off to the smithy.
OOC: I would want to improve both the armor and weapon to masterwork quality (600gp?) and use the remaining money to buy white clerical robes with a silver holy symbol attached to it (Help?)

The price of masterwork weapons are price of normal weapon+300 gold. For armor, I think its price+150, but I'm not sure. The robes will probably be about 20 gold.

OOC: Since I already have the greatsword, is it possible for that to be made masterwork instead of getting a new sword?

IIRC, weapons have to be made masterwork when they are first created. They can't become masterwork. However, you can sell your old sword for half its value, which should make it cheaper.

How much does a flaming weapon cost?

In order to be flaming, it first needs to be masterwork and +1...so it would be 9000 for a +1 flaming (not sure at all) and 4000 for a +1 (also not sure at all) I'll check the books on all this stuff later.

"This is good..." I say ponderously. "I think I may have an idea. Grompsh, how willing are you to carry a little extra on the way to Ragnoth?"

"what kind of extra?"

OOC: So wait, does Alatar get some money or no?

OOC: I suppose yes.

(ooc: Yes, go for it. Gwen should take a share too, she's a friend of Toramyr's and now Ryu. There should be nine people and 1000 gold to each. (Alatar, Arunyia, Draccouth, Grompsh, Gwen, Manello, Ryu, Shadakra, Xion)

"You'll see," I reply. "It depends on if I can get everything together, and on what's for sale in this town."

Grompsh walks off, looking for a weapons shop.
lets assume everyone is now 1000 gold richer.
Nemesis, how far away is a weapons shop within grompsh' price range

Right down the street.

grompsh walks into the weaponshop.
is there a plus 1 great axe?

Xion goes into the weapon shop, and has the scythe upgraded and made to resemble the one Grompsh took.
consider it masterwork or something, has he any more money, Xion's going to go to the smithy and show them the schematics for some parts he needs.

OOC: I get masterwork breastplate and greatsword. I then sell my old weapons. That should set me back 595 gp. I now have 405gp.

I don't think you can afford a +1 weapon yet, Grompsh.

fine, grompsh buys a masterwork great axe, and sells his old one, making him about 850 now.

after ryu takes his share, he goes to many stores in town purchesing and selling stuff that he may or may not need during his adventures.
masterwork long sword (315gp)+ masterwork chain mail (250 gp)+ disgise kit (50 gp)+5 alchemists fire (100gp)=715 1009-715=294. then he sells his long sword and leather armor for 11gp bringing his total to 305gp. yup, the math should be right!

sorry, not chainmail, chainSHIRT ^^;;

Having donned the new equipment, I wander around town searching for more useful items. Vessel is very important to my plans and I will protect him no matter what.
OOC: Nemesis, how much would 8 vials of antitoxin cost? Assuming they're moderately strong

ryu puts on his new stuff and stuff, and is happy and starts wondering around town in search of his bestes buddie arunyia
ooc if ya guys dont mind, can ryu just bump into him? i guess he could just take a 20, ok? its not THAT important, but ryu just wants to be with his friend (since he is one of the nicer members in the group)
ryu finds arunyia "hey buddie!" ryu says as he walks up to him "whatcha gonna get with your share of the gold?" ^__^ "as you can see, i bought some nice armor and a neat sword!" ryu hugs his armor that he is curently wearing

Shadakra buys a MW chain shirt, MW small wooden shield, MW battleaxe, and MW composite longbow, and sells old variants for half price. That leaves her with 94 gold and 3 silver.
After having upgraded her equipment, Shadakra spent the rest of the day in the inn, getting acquainted with the weapons. The new Cold Snap was expertly crafted, surprising for its human origins. The composition would let her take advantage of her strength when firing at enemies, and it even had a better innate accuracy than the old Cold Snap. Shadakra was pleased with her purchase, and was in a fairly good mood the rest of the day.

Xion has traded in the generic scythe and now holds one customized to resemble the one he had lost. The dark and twisted weapon seems to hunger for death as he grasps it.
how much money does he have now? Does he have enough for some parts?

Out of Character: Manello's shopping list-
1 Masterwork Dagger (following specifications I gave)- 400 gp
1 Masterwork Chain Shirt
1 Noble’s Outfit- 75 gp
1 Thieves Tools- 30 gp
1 Vial Ink- 8 gp
5 Caltrops- 5 gp
3 Clerics Vestments (made to look like Aiman's clothes and the robes of the orc cleric)- 15 gp
1 Traveler’s Outfit- 1 gp
1 Artisan’s Outfit- 1 gp
1 Normal Dagger- 2 gp
1 Flint and Steel- 1 gp
2 Hempen Rope- 2 gp
1 Sealing Wax- 1 gp
5 Pints Oil- 5 sp
1 Inkpen- 1 sp
20 Sheets Paper- 8 gp
Moneybag ?
Boots with a nifty little dagger slot in the right boot?
Total: 949.6 gp
Plus Manello sells his current chain shirt, getting 100 gp back. So his remaining funding (minus what is taken off for the moneybag and the dagger) comes to 150 gp, 4 sp.
When I finally finish making my numerous purchases, I notice that it is getting dark. Upping my pace somewhat, I head back to the inn to relax.
[Tomorrow we meet with the ambassadors. I wonder what they have to say.]
Back at the inn, I pack my things up, stick my new common dagger in my boot, and head downstairs to the common area. Getting a table alone, I order some hot tea and sip at it ponderously.

Out of Character: Oops. I mean "minus what is taken off for the moneybag and the boots". Not "dagger." My mistake. Xion, you're off the hook.

Shadakra had her evening meal outside, sitting on the railing of someone's outside stair landing. The sunset was brilliant, and when stars were appearing overhead, she headed back to the inn where she had spent the better part of the day.
She noticed M'enteth drinking something hot when she returned, but she merely nodded to him, and went upstairs to her room, stowing her new weapons and armor carefully within arm's reach. She held her trance soundly until morning, for once not plagued by the usual visions. She got up with the sun feeling more refreshed than she had in a long while, ready to head to the ambassadors once everyone was ready to go.

"You are too kind!" Alatar exclaims after his companions hand him a sack full of gold. "thank you!' WIth more money in his hands he seals the money in his small closet and magically sealed it, pondering what he should spend it on.
OOC: Any suggestions on what he should buy? I dont know what to buy.

yes, well, Grompsh is now running low on funds if you want to supply him

OOC: Forget the antitoxin. I get-
Masterwork manacles 50gp
Length of Chain 30gp
2 vials of Antitoxin 100gp
Whetstone 2cp
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Ooc: Alatar could get a masterwork crossbow and possibly a masterwork melee weapon he's proficient with. He could also buy potions or scrolls

After finishing my tea, I go to my room, and get some fitful hours of sleep. I get up while its still dark, and sit about my room until breakfast time.

OOC: Masterwork items dont interest me, but scrolls sound good

after a while ryu goes back to his room at the inn and looks at his kool stuff and goes to bed early so he'll be all rested since its gonna be a big day tommorow

Alatar decides just to save it, put it to better use later. He turns out his light and locks his door and goes to bed, not waking until early morning.

grompsh returns to his room, after running a hand over the emblem on xions door. At dawn, he gets up and goes downstairs. he gets his morning drink and goes outside, where he spots shadakra.
He pulls out a short, stone pipe, and produces flame from his thumb, lighting up. after a few puffs, he pauses, and looks at shadakra.
"smoke?"

After getting my equipment, I return to the inn. There, I spend a few hours praying to my master. Soon it is day. I go downstairs and order a drink.

Grompsh offered Shadakra a smoke, but she declined the offer. The thought of pulling warm smoke into her body willingly awoke memories of the lighthouse, and those she did not intend to relive yet again.
Suddenly, a pale mote of light rose from the ground in front of her, and arced out over the city, vanishing against the clouds. Before she realized it, Shadakra had jumped up to a standing position, prepared for anything, but nothing more stirred. "Did you see that?" she asked Grompsh tentatively.

Interesting...
I grin maniacally as the elf jumped to a standing position.

I have the smithy make some gears and other parts for whatever is left of my money after I have purchased the sycthe.
Xion does not return w/ the group instead he returns later, alone...he has seen Grompsh's symbol on his door, and decided to play along.
who would be around when he goes into the inn?
When Grompsh is not around, Xion hangs a dove on the doornob. The creature's flesh has been peeled away, and was hung by it's own intestines, it's eyes have been plucked out and sewn into it's chest. Shards of broken bones pierce the muscle. The legs are broken and mangled. The wings have been removed, symbols of phyresis are nailed into the stumps. The butchered bird of peace bleeds on the door. Xion grins and leaves.
"Eye for an eye..."
Then he goes into his room after hawking a lugi on the image of Obadhai. He locks the door, and sits down on the bed. He runs a finger along the blade of the Scythe.
[Soon we return to our laboratory, once Grompsh and the demons have been disposed of. Another day passes, another day closer to the day our love is reborn.]
Xion prepares his spells per day.

"see what? and why are you standing? the tobacco isn't that strong."

Shadakra tried to spot the tiny speck of light, but could not see it any more. Frowning, she sat back down. "Uh, it was nothing, I guess. The sun reflecting off steel somewhere, maybe."
Seeing no option but to kill time by making conversation, the elf asked Grompsh, "Do you intend on heading north one day, to the great forests?"
She made sure to sit upwind from the tobacco smoke.

"yeah, i miss my wife. I also miss the trees, the wolves, and the treefolk."

after waking up, ryu goes downstairs he see's shadakra and grompsh and waves to them, and the goes and gets something to eat.

Ferlin opens the door, stumbling in while rubbing his rear...staying at the bar for three days while constantly hitting on the barmaid was not that healthy...hes staggers as he loses his balance trying to wave at ryu...god, a three day hangover is probably going to kill him, if everyone else wasnt because of his absence...

Gwendolyn catches Ferlin's arm as he's about to fall over and steadies him.
"Watch out," she says with a smile. "You wouldn't want to hurt yourself."
She leads him over to a table where he can have a seat.

Ferlin slumps against the chair and stares at the pretty face in front of him...did he know her? Did he just forget? Almighty, this was a bad headache. He stared forward and tried (futilly) to slur a thanks, then he went foward into the ladies lap, falling instantly asleep...
DarkCabalist
Witty comment...

Gwendolyn removes her cloak and places it under Ferlin's head as he sleeps, pushing his head gently off her lap. She then sits and waits for him to awaken while gazing around the room.

Alatar gets up, sighing and stretching. He prepares his spells and goes down and orders breakfast.

Pah! Alchol, the bane of all mortals. Those humans obviously hadn't changed, not even in a hundred thousand years!
I scoff at the drunken Ferlin.
"Here's an example of one who can't remain sober for long."

Before breakfasting, I go and knock on Xion's door, wondering if the nocturnal necromancer is in.

"A home.." Shadakra mused. "It would be nice to have something to return to. I have nothing. The two places I have known as home would not welcome me back, nor would I want to return. The Pinewoods were the perfect place for me, but now I would not feel safe roaming those pleasant climes."
She noticed the increasing activity among the other members of the party. "It looks like the rest is coming to," she noted to the half-orc.

OOC: M'ententh doesn't have any reaction to the mutilated dove hanging from Grompsh's door, or the symbol of Obad-Hai burned into Xion's?
When M'ententh goes to the door he hears haunting music coming from Xion's chambers. Fainter than a whisper.
Inside, Xion sits on the bed, an small ebony box rests by his side. He holds an ebony ring the band etched w/ runes, adorned w/ a black diamond shaped to resemble a rose. He places the ring on a bony finger.
A knock on the door.
"who's there?...".

apparently not
"you can come north with me if you want. as far as i know, there arent any elves up there. they might have been destroyed by the orcs long ago. Theren't any orcs up there either. they were destroyed by the treefolk when they went to war. at least, thats what lagazi told me."

"It's M'enteth," I reply. "May I come in?"
Out of Character: First of all, Manello has seen more gruesome things in Xion's lab. Second, he knows that Xion and Grompsh are acting like indignant little babies, and he had no interest in their juvenile antics. Or at least that's how he sees them.

Xion puts the box away,(when he does so, the music can no longer ne heard.) though he keeps the ring on, (another ring of the same fasion rests in the case.)
Xion opens the door.

Shadakra listened to Grompsh, her head filling with small questions. She mouthed some of them.
"Treefolk? Where exactly is this forest of yours, Grompsh? Maybe I have heard of it... does it have a name?"

"not that i know of. I was hunted by orcs near that forest, and, wounded and bleeding, i kneeled down beside a tree. When i awoke, i was in another half-orcs hut. She turned out to be Lagazi, and i eventually married her."

"Good morning Xion," I greet the deathly-looking man. Stepping inside, I put my index over my lips, indicating that he should be silent. "I trust you received the blood the night before last. Was it of any use? I spoke with Arunyia, and it would seem that Draccouth is similarly inflicted but does not realize it. Evidently, the being he thinks is his god is actually a demon," I half-whisper, after shutting the door behind me.

The elf still found an equal union between orcs highly unlikely, half-human or not. "Do you stand by your statement that you do not treat your female like scum the way other orcs do? I have seen them treated as little better than slaves, fit only for satiating animalistic desires and bearing spawn."
Frowning, she pondered the possibility that the warrior was putting on a mask for her, but again thought of orcs' rather poor skills at lying. She gripped her new axe, ready to defend herself if the large barbarian was insulted enough to attack her. She had witnessed his assaults on Ryu and Xion, and would not wish to be the target of his ire, but could not help but let some of her contempt for the orcish way bubble to the surface.

"i stand by my word."

'I have overstayed here,' Arunyia thought to himself, staring at the bag of gold coins on his bed.
'Yes you have,' the demon taunted him. 'Take the money and kill them all! Return to our dark mas-' Arunyia smashed his head against the wall, silencing him.
'I could use this money to aid in my quest for the Darkstar. But I would be stealing from friends if I took it with me. No, I shall leave this money to them...'
Gathering his things, Arunyia gazed out the window. He was thinking of Shadakra.
'No, I might hurt her... I could never put her through that. Not like I did to Helena.'
Arunyia scrawled a note in his archaic writing style, and tied it in the drawstrings of the sack of coins. It read,
"Farewell, my newfound friends. I do not wish to endanger you any further, and will be leaving you. May fate side with you on your quest. Signed, Arunyia Darkstar."
Hearing the group downstairs in the bar, Arunyia left the sack inside Shadakra's room. He then cast Spider Climb and escaped out a window, heading back to where he had met the little girl. Perhaps he would find a home amongst the vagrants again, until the day he became restless for his cure arose again...

Xion speaks w/ M'ententh in whispers.
"You have done well, and as promised, I have created a chemical that could be used to supress Aruniya's outbursts. I have been aware of the demon possessing Draccouth...and have prepared some for him as well. I have tried to speak with Grompsh, and discuss our issues as rational men, but as I had suspected he had no intention to do so..."
Yawgmoth: Aruniya has taken his leave, Azareal cannot condone that, you need not be concerned. You can use this M'ententh...
OOC: Yawgmoth communicates mentally w/ Xion.

Out of Character: Which is lame and unfair. COME ON!

Fine, forget that part whatever...I push my luck too much...

"we need to get moving. come on, ill call them."
Grompsh turned and opened the door.
"DRACCOUTH, RYU, MANNELLO, GWEN, FERLIN, ALATAR, XION, ARUNYIA! LETS GO! TIME TO GET MOVING!"

Shadakra quirked an eyebrow. "Ferlin? That wretch has probably passed out face down in a keg somewhere, if he hasn't been stabbed and plundered by now," she said acidly, but stood and put her axe back in its hoop.

I stare coldly at Ferlin. "I suppose we'll have to take him along too don't we. I hate having to take such fools but perhaps he could be of some use."
I turn to the rest of the group gathered.
"Someone go up to fetch Arunyia and Xion. They could be still be wasting time in their rooms."

"fine, i will."
Grompsh walks into the bar, walks up to Xions room and bangs on the door, almost breaking it off its hinges.
"COME ON! WERE LEAVING!"
I then walk over to arunyia's room, stopping to pick up the sack of gold.
"shadakra?"
He walks downstairs and hands the sack to her.
"arunyia is gone. I don't know where he went."

Curses! He must have been too weak, simply overpowered by Arunyia's mind. He is gone now... I must rise on my own.
I look very annoyed.

I suppose we have no choice but to discuss some other time...

Ferlin gives a last snore and mutters, stumbling back into conciousness. He moans and mutters a curse about bad ale, then straightens back to see Gwen gazing at him curiously. Ferlin blushes and stumbles up, tries to stammer a quick (and unintelligible) reason to leave quickly, then turns to see nearly everyone apparently ready to go. He pales to see so many scornful faces, but straightens up to salvage his dignity, only to bend down and wretch...yeah, he wasnt going to drink for a while...

Alatar rises from his table and moves towards the exit looking expectantly at the others.

Shadakra re-entered the inn just in time to see Ferlin spewing his insides on the floor. "Just like I thought," she said, nodding towards Ferlin when Grompsh came back down carrying a bag.
"Arunyia is gone. I don't know where he went," the half-orc said, handing her the sack. It contained money, presumably Arunyia's share of what they all received yesterday.
"He's left us??" she growled, angrily closing the sack. "The fool. We could have done great things together. We could have... he," she sputtered, feeling her cheeks heat.
Then she spun towards Ferlin, who was done retching, and threw the money bag at him. It hit him hard in the stomach, and he tumbled from the bar chair he sat on. "If you use this up on spirits, I will make sure you do not wake from your drunken slumber," she snarled at him.

That elf certainly behaves correctly towards those despicable humans. She reminds of our... no, her race back during the Kindred wars.
I turn from the rest of the group towards the door, unaware of a single tear running down Vessel's cheeks.

Ferlin looks at the bag of gold through hazy eyes, then looks back at Shadakra. He WOULD take the money but the temptation to splurge on spirits WOULD be too irrisistible for him later on, then everyone would get mad at him...
"I don't care who takes it, but", states Ferlin (the first understandable thing hes said since he returned),"I know that I'm probably going to get mugged with that type of money on me. I'll leave that burden to anyone." He heaves himself off of the floor, rubbing the soar spot on his rump, then, checking to see if he still had all his weapons on him, stated that he was as ready to go as he could be...

"i'll hold it, anyone who wants to mess with this half orc has a death wish"
grompsh takes the bag, placing it securely on his back.
"hmm... you still don't looked sober enough, ferlin."
Grompsh goes outside, gets a bucket of trough water, and tosses it in ferlins face.
"that outa wake you up. you need to be alert with us."

Ferlin stands there, sopping wet, as he decides whether life was precious enough not to mess with the half-orc...oh well. He wiped his face with the dry part of his shirt, and turned away, muttering a random empty threat halfway to the orc...

"Drunken idiot...
anyways, lets go, were wasting valuble smashing time."
Grompsh walks out of the door.
"come on shadakra and alatar"

Alatar exits the building and follows Grompsh.

Shadakra lingered until she saw M'enteth and Xion walk down the stairs. "We're leaving. Now." she said, still angry at Arunyia for fleeing. She made a promise to herself to track him down when this was all over, but for now there were other things at stake.
With a last glare for Ferlin, she headed outside to the others.

The elf seems unusually ill-tempered as she snaps at Xion and me coming down. Half-shrugging, I join the others in the walk to the embassy.
As we reach the compound, I halt Draccouth. "Stand back this time. Let the rest of us talk. They might remember you from last time," I warn him.
"Good morning," I greet the guards at the embassy. "We have business with His Excellency the Ambassador Galith."

"The ambassador is not currently in town," the guard says. "He went back to Aredan on pressing business."

"Oh?" I ask, mildly taken aback. Nevertheless, I press the issue. "He was to meet us today. Are there any officials in the embassy who aren't busy with whom we may be able to speak instead? This is crucial Aredan business."

at the tavern place ryu notice how moody that half orc and elf chick are, and made a little mental note NOT to bother them anymore. ryu feels a little sad about his buddie arunyia leaving them and all, he really wanted to help the poor drow. he shrugz and follows everybody to the embassy place.

Ryu seems to be getting smarter and smarter as the adventure goes on...
