Sort of a shoot-off of create a card contests that seem to be popular here. Create a creature/spell ability! Include a sample card if you want.
For example, the ability that I made is called "Carrier." Creatures with Carrier can be sacrificed for their carrier cost to distribute -1/-1 counters to various creatures. For example,
Abaan Mutation
Creature - Horror
3B
Carrier 3 (You may pay 3 and sacrifice this creature to put up to three -1/-1 counters on up to three target creatures.)
"The Phyrexian ruins have yielded up great results. I am most pleased." - Overking Terrol
3/2
It was from a set I made called Scrolls that, among other things, featured the kingdom of Abaan comming across a Phyrexian ruin from the Phyrexian War, and using it to establish power in Dominaria 1000 years after the future.
Oh, and it also features the return of Serra. Who has gone mad. Teferi and Jhoira come back as well.

After the war. That should have said 1000 years after the war, not after the future.

I thought Jhoira was mortal? Okay, I'll give it a try:
Cuteness (This creature cannot be blocked by creatures with power greater than 2)
Like on:
My Little Pony RR
Creature - Pony
Cuteness
1R,T: Target Dwarf gains Cuteness until end of turn.
"Ahhhh, where's the cute little pony going to? Look at that cute little pony, look at it! It's so... WHATTHE!!"
Khamal's last words

Smashing (this creature can block up to Infinate number of creatures, and kill them before they deal combat damage.)
Kamahl, fist of Smashing 4RG
Legendary Creature - Human
Smashing
Infinate/Infinate
Ok, I'm being stupid.
----------------------------------------------
Recall X (Sacrifice this creature to return target instant card with converted mana cost X or less from your graveyard into your hand.)
I got one called Fortune also, but it's the same as recall, instead though it gets a Sorcery instead!

And that while Recall is a Sorcery

Desperation (You may play this card with out paying its mana cost. If you do, you lose the game at end of turn unless you pay its mana cost.)
Example:
Desperate Denial 4U
Instant
Desperation
Counter target spell. Desperate Denial cannot be countered.

Instant if you think about Ancestral Recall, but whatever.
I wasn't think of the names of cards when I made it....
Xion.. I don't see a whole set based around Desperation.

I re-use this mechanic again: Latent Aura [cost]: enchantment comes into play as an artifact if you pay 2. Flip it up at any time for the Latent Aura cost.
Sort of inspired by the mechanic from Onslaught, but really that was more of a means to the end of duplicating the effect of my own card game. needs some work, but the basic concept works, in my opinion.

HOLY CRAP!
Xion posted something that interested me!
Interesting idea, needs some reworking. Basically final fortune, right?
It might be better to not make it keyworded but make them ubercheap. Or something. I'm tired.

Well, it isn't an original ability, but I have always called Sengir Vampire's ability Vampirism (Whenever a creature is put into a graveyard the same turn <cardname> damaged it, put a +1/+1 counter on cardname.)
Sengir Vampire 3BB
Creature - Vampire
Flying, Vampirism 1
4/4
Baron Sengir 5BBB
Legendary Creature
Flying, vampirism 2 (2 +1/+1 counters)
T: Regenerate target Vampire.
5/5
__________________________________________________________________________
Haunt - Whenever this creature is put into a graveyard from play, remove it from the game at end of turn. It deals damage equal to its power to target player.
Stalking Ghoul 2BB
Creature - Zombie
Haunt
B, Pay 2 life, sacrifice Stalking Ghoul: Target player dicards a card from his or her hand at random.
3/1
__________________________________________________________________________
Outwit - You may play this card without paying its mana cost only in response to another player playing an instant during your turn.
Reflexive Response 2U
Instant
Outwit
Counter target spell that targets a permanent you control.
Flashfreeze 1UU
Sorcery
Outwit
Tap up to 2 target creatures.
Fire Strike 2R
Sorcery
Outwit
Fire Strike deals 3 damage to target creature or player.
Mounted Reserves 3W
Creature - Soldier
First strike, Outwit
2/3
Foul Embrace BBB
Instant
Outwit
Destroy target creature. It can't be regenerated.
Life's Circuit 3GG
Sorcery
Outwit
Put up to three land cards from your hand into play.

Errata: you must control whatever basic land corresponds with the card's color...whoops.

Outwit is pretty cool! Maybe a creature with Outwit should have Haste as well, that would be cool!

Outwit must say "You may play this as an instant when"...
Otherwise you would get instant speed socreries??
-Apprentice

@Apprentice: You can only use Outwit during your turn anyway:
"You may play this card without paying its mana cost only in response to another player playing an instant during your turn."
@Psycho: Nice touch, having a hasty surprise...
Speedy Pony 2RR
Creature - Pony
Outwit R (The R signifies that you must control a mountain to play its Outwit)
Haste
When Speedy Pony comes into play, Ponies you control get +1/+0 and trample until end of turn.
2/2
Thanks for the feedback.

Recover- Instantly recovers from any attack
Slightly different from indestructible. You can't deal damage to an indestructible. This card simply recovers. So a spell to block healing would work to destroy it.
Phyrexian Project 2B
creature- horror
Recover
Cannot be target of spells or abilites.
1/1
"When the priests were done, even Yawgmoth was amazed at this beasts abilites."

You can do damage to Indestructible creatures...

Recover basically means "Prevent all damage this would recieve when attacks or blocks."
And I liked Outwit. That's a cool ability.
Well... Because I feel like a fool, I'm going to do a Tribal type Keyword, like Amplify.
Keyword X (When destroyed asa result of battle, search your library for a <creature type> with converted mana cost X or less and put it into play under your control. Then shuffle your library.)
*Sleeps.*

Essence X (Sacrfice <this>, add X mana to your mana pool.)
Ambeince (Prevent all damage that would be dealt this <this>.)
