My money's on the green dude being Kolbjörn.

Think I've seen it before, actually. There's another one like it for Homelands. Did WotC ever put it up? Doesn't matter. Win.

I should add that this is quite trippy. It probably requires mushrooms or severe sleep deprivation to be fully appreciated.

I think it requires that stuff to create such videos.

They made a Homelands one? OMG, that would win even more.

I think it had a guy dressed like a Prodigal Sorcerer, and An-Zerrin Ruins was mentioned.

I don't remember much else.

No Baron Sengir? Fail.

It kind of has the Baron. Kind of.

And those aren't An-Zerrin ruins. My mistake. It had been a while.

Hoo boy. Click on the Magic vs. Yu-gi-oh! video link if... if you can think of any reason to do so.

It's something else.

Minotaur vs. Angel! Holy sh1t! I saw it with my own eyes!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Monsieur Skwi (Squeeman) on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 - 03:10 pm:

Yep. Magic's icons having a go at it.

What is that weapon the minotaur is wielding? Something east Asian? Swordonastickaxe?

Hey, I think Kolbjörn and Tim are the same guy. Same lithp.

I think that guy's the maker.

I saw the Homelands one a while ago. I'm not a big fan...it was way too cheesy.

And I don't like how he pronounces "shaman"

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Monsieur Skwi (Squeeman) on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 - 05:58 pm:

Clearly you didn't take my "mushrooms" advice. I once played the movie The Black Cauldron while a friend of mine was on a mushroom trip (they were still technically legal in the Netherlands at the time... and the movie was pre-agreed upon). It was entertaining until the vomit. Still, you shoulda seen the guy during the Horned King's first appearance.

In which video does he say "shaman"? At what point? Apparently that guy is a stage magician and tarot reader now.

I can't speak for Gustha and the mysterious green magic dude, but Lim-Dul is portrayed very faithfully with regard to the artwork in the Shandalar comic. That's pretty much how he's drawn. Whereas, ever since I got confirmation from The Gathering Dark, I have always referred to Ice Age's Dark Ritual. Aw. Now I'm nostalgic.

Hey, Psycho. Fresh psychedelic mushrooms are illegal here now, right? Or what? Honestly, I haven't been keeping track.

I don't remember where I saw it. I remember that same guy was in it though...I watched that Homelands trailer and it was different from the one I saw.

I watched a little bit of the Ice Age one, too...I had to stop it. I understand they're working with limited budget and that it is from a while ago, but it's just too painful to watch.

Why?
I like how they did the drawings-over-real-footage-thingy and it was better done than in the old LotR movie. And the duel was EXACTLY like a game of Magic should be like, almost as if you and me were teleported into dominaria with our decks and had a duel. Except for the part where they are throwing manasymbol globes, that's sooo Pokemon (although this yellow bastard didn't exist back then or did he?).

I think it's less painful to watch than their advertisement for 6th edition (I think) that run on german TV. I only remember someone in a live action Rhox costume shouted "BUY SIXTH EDITION" at me (in german of course) ...
From next day on all the people that knew I played magic but didn't know what it is started pointing fingers at me. If they had shown this Ice Age clip instead, they would have asked me where to get the drugs I was obviously consuming.

These videos reappear on forums from time to time and again.
Always fun to watch them.

It's equally fun to watch the aneurisms that people get while watching them.

Shrooms are officially illegal now, but I think they're just as available as before. Otherwise, you should buy a home-grow kit, and grow them yourself.

I don't know...they're just so awkward...it really reminds me of the nerdier side of MTG, I guess. Like I would be morbidly embarrassed to be that guy in the video. Nothing against him, it's just too much for me. By all means, they're great. just not for me lol

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Ineffable's Son (Eidtelnvil) on Thursday, February 12, 2009 - 12:25 pm:

Agreed. I'd probably get halfway through the first scene and tell them to find somebody else.

Also, I never knew planeswalking caused the backside of Magic cards to form themselves into a wormhole.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Monsieur Skwi (Squeeman) on Thursday, February 12, 2009 - 01:00 pm:

You didn't. The art of Planar Void is non-canonical.

Also, you can planeswalk by throwing bottles at the ground. It's true. Drunks are probably the most powerful beings in existence.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Monsieur Skwi (Squeeman) on Thursday, February 12, 2009 - 01:04 pm:

I'd probably go along for the acting. The only person who is even slightly recognizable in either of those promos is Tim.

Couldn't you tell? I played the prestigious role of A Zombie #3.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Ineffable's Son (Eidtelnvil) on Thursday, February 12, 2009 - 01:53 pm:

Didn't think of that. If we break bottles, we get to planeswalk. I'm sure I've broken a few bottles. I must have left the rational, philanthropic world of my childhood and somehow entered an alternate reality of greed, amorality, and political apathy.

Rest assured, I'm breaking the hell out of the next bottle I see.

Don't forget to drink the luquid in it beforehand. It may enhance the experience alot, especially if it was booze.

yeah you don't want the Magic-card patterned portal reeking of alcohol, either.

Who knows. There may be pink elephants inside.

Or a hangover. That would be an unpleasant way to travel.
