Hey, WD, I got something for you. You are always trying to play cheap, original, unconventional decks to beat the expensive, notoriusly comboladen powerdecks. Here is something refreshing for you, a red-green aggro deck with lots of utility that plays old style, beating down the opponent with a healthy mix of hitters.

The story behind this is that a group of dedicated german players took all the decklists of all currently played decktypes that won tourneys, proxied them all and then did a 30+ hours playtest marathon, recording all results. The surprising winner was this underdog which surprised everyone. Even GAT had no chance, no matter which variant. Only Gush-Long was able to beat it consistently.

Yeah, it does include two Moxes and Lotus. It will lose some punch if you replace them. But after that the Tarmogoyfs and Taigas are the most expensive cards, so I hope this deck is cheap enough for you. Note that Skullclamp and AEther Vial are uncommons, not rares. It's still far away from all-common-decks but hey - that's the best compromise I could find. At least this one is real tournament calibre and has proven itself numerous times already.
Heck, it reminds me so much of my earlier works on Type I r/g that I am itching to build that one myself and have some fun :)

Jamison Bryant's Red-Green Beatz
1st Place - SCG Chicago

// Lands
1 Forest
2 Windswept Heath
2 Mountain
1 Strip Mine
4 Taiga
2 Wasteland
4 Wooded Foothills

// Creatures
2 Stingscourger
4 Kird Ape
3 Magus of the Moon
4 Mogg Fanatic
4 Skyshroud Elite
4 Tarmogoyf
4 Tin Street Hooligan

// Spells
3 Skullclamp
4 AEther Vial
4 Seal of Fire
4 Lightning Bolt
1 Lotus Petal
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Emerald
1 Black Lotus

// Sideboard
1 Stingscourger
3 Ancient Grudge
3 Pyroclasm
4 Pyrostatic Pillar
4 Seal of Primordium

Some notes how to play this:
AEther Vial is crucial since it does not only help saving mana, it also dodges counterspells! If you vial out the Magus, it's game in many cases (uncounterable Blood Moons, shudder!).

Stingscourger is mainly there to fight Oath decks but has it's merits against many other decks as well. You'll most likely never pay the echo but thanks Skullclamp it won't be card disadvantage.

Tarmogoyf is the current über-beatstick in Type I, easily 4/5 in turn 2.

Your hand will be empty at turn 3-4 (without Moxes and Lotus turn 4), from there Skullclamp is your best friend.

Weird little deck. Have seen some earlier versions of R/G beats.

Link to the project please!

I cannot figure why it would beat combo decks with such a high rate! Must be their lokal meta game in effect.

Sorry for not being very active these days, but I have no web access! And it may be like this for a long time.

The 3 colored mana solution simulation is 99% finnished. (Only the programming is remaining to be done).

Im still toying with the old one, and keep discovering new stuff though!

I cannot link to the "project", only to the forum thread where they wrote about it and it is in german ...

And their meta has nothing to do with that - maybe read the description again, the results were testresults, not tournament results. They had a huge gauntlet of decks which had one copy of every deck that has recently won a mayor Type I tournament. This deck won a tourney in Chicago, however, the project wasn't about that tourney. They just put it against other decks that won other tourneys. Understand now?

BTW, it seems like the meta seems to shift from combo to aggro-control globally which is quite nice actually.

I am weakly versed in german but I can comprehend it textually.

I di understand the nature of the project, but not why things like charbelcher or flashhulk didnt beat the beats, or perhaps they have been measuring it as an overall victory ?

Still alive, but less wicked than usual. see you later in a month or two :..(
