I've got tickets for The Prodigy's concert in Hamburg, 19th of November :)

I don't know about you, but The Prodigy was a very important factor in my life when I was young. Ahh, the good times, hanging out at the quarry pond, sitting next to the camp fire, a beer in the left hand, a cig in the right and listening to Prodigy, Nirvana and Cypress Hill ... and Rage against the Machine, Offspring, Beastie Boys, House of Pain and all the other goodies :)

Prodigy didn't do good after Leeroy left them, their fourth album wasn't good, just uninspired and all the featured artists just watered the album down. But the new album, "Invaders must die", is good, almost back on the level of the first three! Just check out this new song and you know 2 things:
1) That they still have the magic
2) How it will be like at the upcoming concert

I think I'll take my camcorder with me. I hope that's allowed ... I mean, they do allow all those cellphones with cams, so where's the difference?

Anyway, in 2 weeks I will be about to reclaim my lost youth and nothing can stop me :)

Heh! Once in DK they had a concert, and the "singer" was trying to stagedive, but the people were not used to that in that city so they moved out of the way :)

Boy did he look pissed when he got back on stage :)

Haha ... the white guy, Keith Flint? Or the black guy? I would not want to piss of either one ...

I am hoping for "Charly" (the "trip into drum&bass" version), "Poison", "Out of Space" and "Smack my b1tch up". Oh and "No Good". And then "Weather Experience" as the last song for chill-out. But I know the latter will not happen.

Fantastic concert! Could have been a bit longer, but so what. The crowd went crazy as early as the second song which was "Breathe". Luckily they played lots of older songs next to the new anthems "Omen" and "Warriors". With the exception of "No good" we got all the big hits. And most of them were remixes, but the changed part was mainly the last third of the song. That way you can enjoy the original sound and yet listen to something unique.

As I suspected, they didn't breakdance anymore. But they still made a hell of a show. Keith still showed a lot of energy, jumping around like a monkey and teasing the audience. And "Firestarter" was still HIS big show, displaying some insanity. Maxim was mainly busy heating up the audience as a MC. The crowd was screming "Invaders must die!!!" as if WWIII was about to boot. They really know how to lead you through the ups and downs of the songs. I didn't make a single break and danced and jumped throughout. During the slow part of "Smack my b1tch up" they made us all squat down and wait for the beat to continue, exploding in a new rage. If you ever wondered why there are slow parts in their songs: They are there so that you can survive a Prodigy concert! Without these little slower moments you'd be exhausted and collapse after 30 minutes ...

During the concert I bumped into a girl a couple of times. When it happened the third time I apologized to her. She made a sign that I should not worry - then we high-fived :)

They played three songs as the encore. One was "Out of Space". During the slow part, the entire crowd was waving hands and it felt like a convention of hippies ... only to break out in jumping and dancing mayhem seconds later when the beat kicks in. The last song was "Their Law". The high-five-girl asked me if I'd like to pogo-dance with her - sure I wanted to :elektro:

Then the magic was over. During the concert, my mind rejuvenated about 10-15 years, catapulting me back to adolescence. But my body prolly withered a year or two. I was almost deaf. I was covered in sweat. Maybe 50% of that was mine. I was so thirsty that I bought half a liter of apple spritzer - back in the day I would never have bought anything non-alcoholic ;)
Although I felt overheated I forced myself to put on my pullover to avoid getting sick in the cold air outside. There I met the pogo-girl a last time: She called out loud for "Wu-Tang" because she had seen me putting my pullover on which has a big Wu-Tang sign on it. So I remembred her a last time to attend the next black night party and ... went home. Yes, I didn't take a tour to the "Kiez" afterwards like I would have 10 years ago. I can't even use the fact that it was a thursday night as an excuse because I have a day off today. I am just getting old. Physically, at least.

First videos are already up on youtube, unfortunately they all have bad audio quality. But if you want to have an impression, you could check it out nonetheless:
