Overlooked Cards
Remove Enchantments
Written by Ulrich and Helva

I frequently find myself justifying my use of this card in my white decks. My opponents tend to laugh when they see it. "Why waste a card on that?" is a frequent question.

I just shrug—for one white mana this instant is capable of three distinct actions. First, if someone plays a Tranquility, I can cast Remove Enchantments and return all my enchantments to my hand. One of my decks contains only flying creatures and a Moat. My opponent usually must get rid of the Moat, but with Remove Enchantments they have to get rid of it twice! Second, if someone plays a particularly nasty enchantment on one of my creatures, say "Maddening Wind," for example, Remove Enchantments will get rid of it. Third, and this is the best, Remove Enchantments will neatly take care of that lured Basilisk or Cockatrice, or that Spirit Linked Shivan, by removing the crucial enchantment with the element of surprise in your favor.

I find it a very versatile card that I have rarely, if ever, been holding at the end of a game. While it won't replace a Disenchant, Remove Enchantments is certainly an unpleasant spell to spring on your opponent.
